I have a small amount of movement in my driver side inner tie rod. Its not shaky or rattling at 80+ or popping in turns but I popped off the tire and its clearly lose beyond normal levels.
I checked out installation and it seems straight forward enough but not sure. My question for you guys, has anyone done this replacement before and able to say its better to do at a shop or not terrible DIY. Also couple videos make it seem mandatory I go to an alignment shop after but I am hoping I can just adjust the rod to the same length etc as the other. Student budget, dont care to be hosed for stupid crap like alignment.
Oh and where can i find that stupid *** tie rod pipe tool? Probably online easy but not checked yet.
Thanks guys

Even if you count turns and whatnot, it's still better to get the car aligned. General rule of thumb. I've never done inners, but I've done outers and even with careful thread counting and stuff, I still got it aligned. Just my .02

I love DIY's but, I'll never do an inner tie-rod again. It seems easy but, isn't 'cause of clearances. Half a day later it was back together after a lot of dirty words and busted knuckles.
I guarantee your not gonna be steering straight afterwards. Just prepare to get an alignment. I've used the hell out of the unlimited alignment at NTB (1 year unlimited for $69.99). Of course, I need an alignment about every 2-3 months 'cause the roads around here are crap.

Yea the allignment I just figure is going to be done ASAP once I get it installed. just down the block from goodyear .
But as it turns out that company/the family who owns the local franchise, are bastards with gouging price. Im getting some professional help from my step brother and will go from there.
I will say its always hilarious to watch shops try making you feel like if you leave with the car as it is, you WILL die. Despite knowing all about the car and not asking for their two sense.
