Rep Power: 0 new fuel tank..
94 civic dx 4 dr mt.
all the parts stores in town carry the same fuel tank, spectre #HO9 which they along with online catalogs all claim to be match to my car.
its tank capacity is 13 gal, while my stock tank is 11.9 in the owners manual. does anyone have any experience with a tank replacement, do i need to buy new straps to fit the larger tank? I'm also purchasing some stuff from majestic for another repair and would like to get the honda straps (cheaper) however if they are too short to accommodate the new tank with an extra gallon capacity should i just get the straps and tank form the same supplier to reduce the risk?

There shouldn't be any problem with the OEM straps. That extra fuel capacity should be in a place that doesn't affect fit of the tank. If you're nervous about it just order the straps from the same place you get the tank. I looked at http://www.rockauto.com/ and they have the tank for $107 (waaaaay cheaper than OEM) but, the straps are almost the same price as OEM.
