making more power 5th gen
making more power 5th gen
okay i have a 95 civic coupe daily driver. 14x,xxx miles, 5 spd, with the 1.6L Vtec. I want to make a little more noticeable power with being cost effective and still keeping some reliability. boosting was my first thought.. but after reading some threads it sounds a little more expensive than im looking to spend i really dont wanna spend more than a thousand over time. (6 months to a year). the way it sits right now i have DC headers, magnaflow can muffler, off brand cone air filter with the stock intake hose, lowering springs with tokico shocks, and a strut tower brace. this is my first honda ive had a dohc non turbo stealth and i just bought a 300zx na so im use to a little bit faster cars but i like my reliable DD. I just want a little more power because where i live theres all these cocky country boys with v8 trucks that think theyre faster than anything on the block and i havent raced one yet but i dont want too because im almost positive ill lose i could show them up in my stealth and in my Z but i feel vulnerable in my civic. I never like to be in a slow car so looking for options to make more power with being cost effective and keeping reliability. any suggestions?
Re: making more power 5th gen
Best option if your goal is to compete with V8's is to swap the motor or boost. Pick a motor that Honda makes and it should fit into that year civic. Check Hasport for what mounts are available. It won't be under 1k
