Honda civic 1996 engine swap

So i got a 2000 civic matching my 1996 honda civic dx couple mechanics say its compatible with using my vin number and model of car etc is there any other components ill need to make the swap successfull?

so what engine is it?
if it's a non vtec engine (d16y7) then it will just drop into your car no problem
if its vtec (d16y8) then you can just put the whole thing in and just not hook up the vtec.
or put your old head on the new block and drop that in

so as long as it the same engine, and you're only changing the engine and not swapping auto to manual or vice versa then it should work no problem.
if anything on the new engine doesn't match the old engine (they may have changed the design of a sensor or something) just take it off the old engine and put it on the new one
