have my 99 civic hatch with a fully built b20v w b16a2 head and was hoping for your guys help! my car just started sputtering out of no where and now no matter what gear can't pass 3-4k rpm without it sputtering and backfiring. fuel pressure seems to be staying where it needs to be so i'm lead to believe spark either wires or plugs possibly distributor too? let me know what you guys think please and thank you!

B16A2 appears to be a Vtec head. If that is the case the issue may be related to the Vtec solenoid itself. First, check oil level..low oil can cause Vtec solenoid to improperly operate. Read this: http://my.prostreetonline.com/2014/1...c-doesnt-work/
Other than Vtec solenoid check:
Mechanical timing to ensure timing belt didn't jump tooth/teeth
Valves adjustment
Spark quality.
Compression.
Whatever else Ezone or others recommend.
Out of curiosity which ECU are using and does it have a chipped basemap or tune?

when you say fully built...i'm assuming that includes the oil line to feed the vtec and the girdle...which head gasket are you using...did you swap over to the b16 water pump and timing belt or did you stick with the b20...are you using the b16 ecu?
this engine is touchy when something is off...but when it's working correctly it's a beast
