Hey new to the forum
But I recently changed my alternator on my 2000 civic sir has a b16a2 motor, ever since I've changed the alternator I start up my car and the rpm jumps to 4-5k rpm I have checked the belt it's not stiff it has about a 3mm gap when I push down on it and the alternator is brand new, also after a few seconds when the idle is at 4-5k the idling jumps between 1500-3500 and bounces back and forth any ideas please let me know

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Knocked a vacuum hose off or broke a vacuum hose..
Maybe a vacuum hose that would go to cruise control

Ok....
Pull off the breather stuff so you can get into the throttle body.
Start it up and let the engine get all warmed up.
Locate the open port(s) inside the throttle body and plug them off with your fingers.
Does the idle drop to a normal idle RPM or try to stall the engine?
Is there more than one port in there? If so, assuming that plugging one of them got the idle speed down, which port and what component does the passage lead to?
