Rep Power: 0 Purchasing a project 99 EX for my wife.
Im new to Honda, Im a Ford man, I have had 3 mustangs, and curently have a 94 F150, 69 F100, 2012 Focus, and project 68 mustang.
The 2012 Focus is my daily driver, but it is a 5-speed manual, my wife refuses to drive a manual, even though I have taught her how. I cant afford buying another new vehicle and dont want to trade in my Focus so I decided to pick up something cheap. This isnt my first rodeo, I have bought several vehicles for under $1,000 made something decent out of them. This is what I will be working with:
A 1999 EX coupe 1.6L/auto, lowered, cold air intake, and aftermarket muffler. Only body damage is a dented driver front fender. The car runs strong, HOWEVER, the transmission shift OK at first, but after a little driving doesnt want to go into gear. We have agreed on a price of $400.
This will be my wifes first car, and the only car she will have ever worked on. Looks like its leaked a little oil so we may be replacing some gaskets. Im hoping there isnt major trouble with the tranny but I wont know until I get it home. I will post pictures of what we are working with when I can take some.

Should take a look at the fluids before buying for obvious reasons. But you bough it for $400, can't do better than that!
The 6th gen Civics are very reliable but that doesn't mean much if it was neglected.
