I was just told I have a bad upper control arm on my 97 hatchback and I was wondering if I could just get a kit to replace the ball joint instead of having to replace the whole control arm. Also how hard would this be?

From my experience, it's better to replace the control arm. Pressing those things out is a pain in the ***, especially if stuff is all greasy and rusted.

Its just easier to replace the entire arm. The factory ball joints are pressed in.
Its a very simple job. 2 bolts at the back of the arm and the ball joint. You will need a pickle fork or a ball joint splitter to seperate the ball joint though.

I would really want to but with out a garage and weather on the low teens it gets kind of annoying to work on a vehicle. I ended up taking it to the shop and paid very little.

Good deal, if you can find the right price i dont blame you for letting someone else do it.
