Removing door panal

Hi,

The lock is broken on my 1998 civic and i cant open the door at all.

Could anyone tell me in very simple terms how to get the door panal off? I have taken off the handle part and undone another screw that was behind it and im afraid that is as far as i have got. I have tried looking it up on the net but am still stuck.

Thank you

Casketglee has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Re: Removing door panal

Now remove the screws from the door panel speakers and pull off the panel..

Re: Removing door panal

When I had to fix my window, I had to remove the panel. I think you may be right, Kenny. There are clips on the bottom of the door that need to be popped out in order to remove the panel entirely.

Re: Removing door panal

Try this, if you took the plastic handle off the door panel, look inside for a metal rod,
Pull it towards the front of the car, and push on the door, hopefully it will open for you to take the panel off in order to replace latch assembly

Re: Removing door panal

Thanks for all your help.

Iv now got the speaker out and a screw that was just above that on the panal. And im stuck again.

I have had a good look at the other door and can not see anything extra i should unscrew, but it is still very firmly attached. I also managed to carefully take off the strip at the top that had little pin things attached to the panal.

So i guess whatever is still holding it in place must be at the bottom, or possibly the sides?

I can see (through the removed handle) the rods inside and they are moving and all look ok to me, it is making the normal clicking sound.

Any more ideas? or any ideas how to get the door open?

Re: Removing door panal

I just gave you instructions that you ignored....

Try pulling on the rod that's behind the handle, and pushing on the door to open it

Your panel is held in by plastic clips, and cant be taken out unless your door is open

Re: Removing door panal

Sorry maybe didnt explain properly, i did try pulling on the rod, which didnt do anything. When you use the handle the rod is moving forwards, correctly (i think), which is making me think the problem is at the other end, ie where you put the key in.
