Ya ive got a 2000 honda civic. I just put on Motegi DP6 17 inch rims with 215/40/R17 tires. Currently it sits just a tad bit higher because of the bigger sized rims. its still on complete stock suspension. what i am doing is removing part of the plastic piece in the front fenders to give it some more room so it doesnt rub on plastic. still gonna leave a section to cover the opening for the engine bay. still need that to keep it clean. im going to then either using a rust preventer paint on the metal in the wheel well or use like herculiner or rhino liner to prevent rust. So if some one has a suggestion that would help? Ok so now for the major question. Once I take care of that. Should i buy coilovers or just get some lowering springs to lower the car? Obivously after i do one or the other im gonna do all the other suspension parts. So does anyone know if I can get away with lowering springs or should i just spend the little extra cash and get the coilovers? and also will i even have room if I lower it or will the tires just rub?

It should **** a few mm lower if anything 17's with a 40 series tire are almost exactly the same over all size as stock 185 65 14's. I have 17's on my civic lowered 1.8 inch front and rear and there is no fender gap now i rub everytime i hit a bump so be carefull if you go lower than that you may run into some trouble seeing how you run a 225 40 17. I rub with a 205 40 17. But you could roll your fenders or take out the fender wall but thats not good for the car.

ya know im kind of thinking i should have went with 16s but hey cant worry about it now. I got a k20a from japan about to be installed in it so ill worry about the rims later. I should have the motor installed and car back on the road here shortly. And yes if any one wants to know I am doing it myself. I also wish i would have went with the 205 but the 215 a little better grip. but im not going to lower it that much maybe 1.5 drop. but im gonna remove some of the plastic from the wheel well and use some rust preventant. thats the only thing im rubbing on right now is that plastic.
