so here it is got a y7 block with a pj2-2 head and it has 1997 cast into head on left front near cam gear and everything I have read says this head should be on a y8 block. The question is why is 1997 cast on head, anyone every see this cast on a pj2-2 head?

You must mean P2J-2 not PJ2-2. Are you sure it says 1997 and not just 97? This is a D16Y8 head cast in 1997.
It's common to swap a Y8 head onto a Y7 engine. The Y8 heads come with VTEC and the Y7s do not. By swapping the head and making a few other mods you basically add VTEC to a Y7 engine. It's known as a "mini-me" head swap.

yea, I now know what the previous owner has done. Now we are in the process of putting car back to stock. Found a new head for 50 bucks and we are putting it on this weekend.
