Re: Trunk leak again

These were not on the trunk lid but if I remember correctly (it was my daughters car) was under the light. It also leaked in the seams where OEM caulking had fallen out. I was ablt to see the leaks by going into the trunk with a flashlight while my daughter ran a hose on it.

Re: Trunk leak again

I had the exact same problem just on the passenger side of the trunk. I messed with everything until I found where the leak was. Mine was coming from the water diverters (not really sure what they are called) on the roof. I took them out and filled the holes between the seam of the rear window and the roof of the car with silicone. Hasn't leaked since. Hope this helps!

Do you have a coupe? I know the coupe has a rubber seal on each side the top of the roof , but these only clip to the roof to a little stud, there is no hole in the roof itself?

Re: Trunk leak again

Yeah i have the coupe. If you take out the diverters and lift up the seal a little bit you can see the hole. Try pouring water directly into the divit left by taking the diverter out and see what happens.

Re: Trunk leak again

^^ mine looks exactly like that

im having this exact same problem, and its only on the right side. if i follow the water up it looks like its coming from under where the trunk seal is, but also up higher so im guessing it might be the water diverter thing like someone said above.

Im wondering whether to just buy a new trunk seal, but shouldnt all of the silicone have fixed the problem if it was just the trunk seal?

edit: ps the drips in my trunks carpet look exactly like your picture too. we need to figure this out, im tired of waiting for hot days.

the pics from this thread show my problem exactly:

Trust me I have tried. I even siliconed the trunk seal down, still leaks. One way to check is the corner put your finger up in the hole right near the corner and see it is wet.

Re: Trunk leak again

Same exact boat. 96 Coupe, same spot on the right side of the trunk, below the hinge. I've siliconed my rear glass and rear rain channels (just in front of rear glass) to no avail. I sure hope one of us can figure this out!

Re: Trunk leak again

the circle is wet underneath, the metal gets in the way and i cant follow the leak. for now i just put a dry towel where the drip is, and the trunk isn't completely soaked anymore...just went through 2 days of rain

Yep the circle is wet seems to drip from there. I have tried a lot of things too many to name. Next step is get rid of the car or keep the trunk empty.

Re: Trunk leak again

Hello everyone. I realize this thread is a bit old but I'm having the same problem. On both sides of the trunk. I've tried the hose trick but could not see any leaks. I don't have standing water, but water drips down out of the taillight after it rains when I open the trunk. Underneath the upper surface behind the carpet is always moist. Inside the lid where the spaces are cut out is all wet as well (may be from condensation though).

I sealed the seams in the area on the driver's with silicone and it may have helped some but it's still wet underneath.

Has there been any further resolution with this problem? Thanks.
