Windshield washer

My windshield washer on my '98 LX barely shoots out the fluid. Today I am going to check for any kinks and maybe runs a thin wire through the line to get out any gunk. Is the washer motor located beside the washer fluid tank? Do I have to remove the bumper or wheel well plastic to get at it?

Re: Windshield washer

yeah, the motor is behind the fender near the fluid resovoir.

Your squirters are probably clogged. See how well the fluid pumps out by disconnecting the hose.

Re: Windshield washer

TOTALLY agree with SQL again...I've had mine clog up a few times. Usually high pressure spray directly into them clears the problem...if not, I have used a pin.

Good luck.

Re: Windshield washer

Well I cleaned out the lines and used both a high pressure washer and a pin on the nozzles. I put the high pressure washer into the reservoir and cleaned it out as well. The drivers side is now working fine and the passenger side is better but will only shoot a single spray about a third way up the windshield. The drivers side fans out the spray across the windshield. I think I will replace the nozzle on the passenger side to see if it makes any difference. Thanks for your help.

Re: Windshield washer

Take the nozzle out and soak it in vinegar, That may clear it.

Re: Windshield washer

I have the same problem in a Civic 2000 i just bought... no fluid pressure through the nozzles. Just finished cleaning the lines and put a brand new "used pump" (I found out the pump was missing when my daughter said it didn't work). Can it be the pump is not good?

Does the pump make any noise when you try to use it? Did you try squirting the fluid out of the hoses?
