Doing front oil seal on crank on my 97 civic?

I bought this car in December 09 and since then I am relentlisly fixing what this previouse owner/"mechanic" worked on, suspension, new axles, valve cover, electrical and so on and so on, i'm almost finished with fixing his inibilities, i've got to do the the crank seal, and then I can start moddifying, getting to the good stuff. The timing belt was apperintly done 10 or 15 k before i bought it, but now the front crank oil seal is in "BAD SHAPE" I can't put it off any longer, but I've never done a Timing belt, and my Hanes manual, isn't as helpfull as I wished it could be, sorta gives you an idea about how to do it, but what i'm curiouse about is what do i have to do? What things should I replace while I'm down there and what things should I look for?
