2003 Honda Civic LX Fuel Pump Replacement Problem

HI!. New member here....so the other day i replaced the fuel pump on my 2003 honda civic lx with this one i got off ebay

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Pump-Module-Assembly-for-Honda-Civic-1-7L-2-0L-V4/283070309234?fits=Year%3A2003%7CModel%3ACivic%7CMa ke%3AHonda&epid=500192304&hash=item41e84e2372:g:PK EAAOSw229bV0ch:rk:2f:0

installation went completely smooth but before putting everything back together i decided to turn the key and ignition a couple times to prime the pump to start her and realize the gas gauge was way off....so i went ahead and took the pump back out again to make sure the float was good and not stuck on anything to keep it from floating freely...it just doesnt seem like the gauge is 100% accurate....what is your guy's thoughts? is this a good pump or not?

It's a $65 Ebay fuel sender. Did you expect it to be Honda equivalent?

Installer error?
Part failure?

Pull new pump unit out, swap your original sending unit onto it?

Re: 2003 Honda Civic LX Fuel Pump Replacement Problem

Maybe its calibrated (if that's the right work for it) differently (wrong) for the car. It was a FleeBay item so the quality is questionable.

With the complete unit OUT of the tank and wiring harness connected, did the gauge read correctly based on the position you held the float?

Now that the pump unit has been soaking in gasoline this won't be safe to try.
