Hi everyone, I hope people read my post and have some answers for me, my cluster only works half the time. when it gets cold out or sometimes with the ac on it might come on, in the winter it works most of the time. i have been trying to find a used meter and have the odometer matched to mine. to purchase a new 2001 lx no abs or side curtain airbag is around 250 just for the meter and not the lense or black plastic in between. i can buy a new 2002 for around 80 dollars less and get the entire unit with all three pieces but heres the tricky part and i need every ones help with this. no one can tell me what color the meter will be , mine is a silver color. not black and not white. i noticed if i order a 2002 lx manual its possible it could be silver or even white does anyone know what the colors represent , i found a 2001 lx manual that works and the mileage was going to be redone but its black face. i can swap my silver but i dont want to do that. thank you

I don't remember any cluster faces being silver from the factory...... I bet someone installed a face kit in yours.

You can accept a working used unit of a different (original black) color, and if you aren't real concerned about visible mileage you can leave it as-is and document the old/new odometer readings with a door jamb sticker from your dealer or maybe local drivers bureau/DMV

this is the color of my guages and the exact sytle of what is in my 2001 honda civic lx coupe, no side curtain airbag, no abs and a manual transmission

That wasn't the color scheme I imagined LOL

Colors aren't critical to proper operation...
If you're dealing with used parts you can always ask for pictures

true, but i would like to keep it original only because if i sell the car their could be someone who might notice it. if i order a new 2002 cluster it should either come this color or white, i believe the white started in 2002 but the dealer does not know which color i would get.

Ya, the Honda parts catalog doesn't give much in the way useful descriptions, just part numbers.....

If your VIN was entered into the Honda parts catalog it should eliminate the ~27 other choices leaving only the unit specifically matching your cars VIN.

Did you use one of the online Honda catalogs to get a wholesale price?

yes, problem is a 2001 is around 250 and its only the meter not the black plastic and clear lens. if you look up a 2002 same car its 80 dollars less and you get all three pieces , its a complete unit

im really considering buying the 2002 and taking my chance on the color, i think its going be exact to what i have or white, and if its white i am cool with that and the next owner will just have to like it.

There are a few threads in this forum dealing with cluster swaps, maybe you could get more info from those? (search bar)
Plenty of people swapped to get different colors (red/blue) and some just to get a tach for their DX.

The exact years that will direct swap I forget, because there was a wiring change in the middle of the 5 year production run of that body style.

I have white gauges in my 2002 EX sedan. They look nice.
They look kind of silver around dusk!

If all of the gauges and lights do what they are supposed to do, 90% of your potential customer base will be thrilled.
