I have a 2002 Honda civic ex and for the past few weeks Ive had an issue to where the car would start up and move forward slowly fine but when I push down on the gas pedal to accellerate nothing happens, no reving, no noise and at all, it doesnt matter how far down i push is, but after a good few seconds it will jump forward and go like nothing happened.My CEL is not on. it used to it about every other day but is now getting more frequent.

Scenario.....

start engine,
wait about 3 seconds,
put into gear,
attempt to drive away from the parking spot and
it goes 5 feet then falls on its face and bogs, won't accelerate, might even stall the engine.

this event could last anywhere from 3 to 10 seconds? (seems like forever when traffic is coming at you fast!)

Then it runs and drives normally for the rest of the drive.

Scenario may or may not repeat after the next engine startup.

That was basically the exact senario right after I left my works drive way It was terrifying seeing the cars comming and I couldn't move!!

How many miles? 180,000 ish?

You say check engine light is not on, but have you checked for fault codes anyway?

around that yes, and I did check the codes the only one that came one was the O2 sensor part which I replaced

Which sensor was replaced?
What brand was installed?
Has it set more codes since the sensor was replaced?

Unplug the primary O2 sensor, and drive it for a couple days to determine if the symptoms go away. It will probably turn on the light and set more codes because it's unplugged, but figure out if the symptoms go away.

I will give it a try if it means possibly avoiding getting almost run over.
