02 civic ex, 02 sensor problem after 05 HX engine swap

So I killed my 2002 Civic EX engine and swapped it with a 2005 civic HX. Car has been running great with the new engine after I swapped the ECU. Only problem is I am using the ex exhaust and when I swapped the 02 sensors on ,bank 1 sensor 1 ,and bank 1 sensor 2 then check engine light came on and dose not go away even after swapping for new sensors. So my question is there a wiring difference between the 2002 civic 02 sensors and the 2005 civic.

And I am using the ex exhaust on the HX engine.

Re: 02 civic ex, 02 sensor problem after 05 HX engine swap

03-05 uses a wideband downstream (unsure about upstream) O2 sensor. 01-02 uses narrow band.

Re: 02 civic ex, 02 sensor problem after 05 HX engine swap

swap in 05 sensors and you should be fine. Same connectors, same threads, different sensor portion. Wideband sensors will be significantly more expensive, just saying. Also, the D17 doesn't play nice with "universal" splice your own wiring sensors. Buy plug and play ones

Re: 02 civic ex, 02 sensor problem after 05 HX engine swap

ecu vs sensors.

Just so we're on the same page, 05 engine, 05 ecu, 02 wiring harness, 02 sensors?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: 02 civic ex, 02 sensor problem after 05 HX engine swap

The HX ECM (or pcm) should be looking for THREE different oxygen sensors, so you will never get rid of all the fault codes.
