Rep Power: 0 Code 0753 and 0758 Shift solenoid
My 2001 Civic EX clunks into "D" and into "R" but does not seem to shift though the gears.
The CEL is lit up and I found the 0753 and 0758 codes on the OBD. These codes show "Shift Solenoid A" and "Shift solenoid B".
I have checked the solenoids at the bottom of the tranny , resistance and clicking OK. I also replaced the top solenoid with a used one.
Any ideas where the problem might be?
Replacing all of the solenoids is an expensive trial and error experiment!!
I tried changing the fluid and used genuine honda ATF filled to the correct level. That did not help, the codes came back! and she does not shift. Seems to go everywhere in D.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: Code 0753 and 0758 Shift solenoid
Both codes are strictly electrical problems, those codes cannot be caused by a mechanical problem.

There are many solenoids on the trans and the names can be confusing...Always check wire colors against a good diagram to be sure you are pick the correct parts.
Both solenoids share a single connector that contains 2 wires.
Solenoid A uses blue/black wire in the harness and blue/yellow on the solenoid pigtail.
Solenoid B uses green/white wire in the harness and on the solenoid pigtail.
I'll guess a rodent chewed the wires somewhere.

Thank you for the tip. Not a rodent but a bad snap connection in the wire from the solenoid to the wiring harness. Repaired that and the car is driving properly again. Nice to know which symptom relates to which solenoid. Thank you Sir.
