Rep Power: 0 ABS Modulator replacement - 2002 civic
Have a leaking ABS modulator. Does anyone have the steps do prior to removal to release the pressure and also how to bleed the system after installing the replacement part.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Leaking ABS unit?
I suppose this makes a case for flushing brake fluid every 3 years huh?
---------------------
Unlock and disconnect wire plug
Disconnect 6 brake lines from ABS unit
unbolt and remove ABS unit/assembly.
Reinstall in reverse order
bleed brakes at the wheels as you would on any other car....though this service info says to start with the front wheels.
Make sure it all works, I'd find some snow/ice/loose gravel to try skidding on.

Thank you HTH.
Actually, the brake fluid has been replaced every year, even though it's still okay. I use the LED brake fluid tester to check the condition of the fluid: http://www.tooltopia.com/mountain-5140.aspx
There's a lot of rust in the general area where the ABS modulator unit is located. Also this vehicle was from the rust belt, so all the road salt that accumulated over the years may have rusted the unit and started the leak.
