Rep Power: 0 2003 EX Coupe Acceleration Issues
I did look through many of the threads but didn't see anything like what I'm experiencing in my Civic.
I have a 2003 Honda Civic coupe EX (AT) that I just love. It's economical and a lot of fun to drive (145k+ Miles). However, it has an issue that I've lived with for several years (yes, several years). When I first put the car in gear and take off it seems the car just won't go. It sputters and gasps and on occasion has died (feels like it just isn't getting any fuel). The car starts easily and idles just fine. It's only when I attempt to accelerate that this occurs. After about 10-15 seconds of this it takes off and runs just fine. It is worse in warm weather (the hotter it is outside the more this happens) but does occur year round. It happens about 75% of the time in the summer and maybe 33% in the winter. I had the EGR valve replaced but that didn't help at all. I've been told there may be a technical bulletin from Honda on this but I've never taken it to the dealer. I'm certainly willing to take it to a dealer but I would like to have some idea what's going on before I do so.
I appreciate information anyone can provide.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: 2003 EX Coupe Acceleration Issues
Got a check engine light on? Got codes?
I'd connect my scanner and watch live engine data in real time, look for anything amiss while it's acting up.
And maybe monitor fuel pressure, see what it does while it's acting up.
The goal is to figure out if it's too rich or if it's starving for fuel....or whatever it may be.
Once that is known, then one can begin to figure out why.
