I bought this 5 speed Civic on the cheap because it needs a transmission. Is a HX transmission into a DX possible? Would be nice as a buddy has one cheap.

Re: 04 Civic dx conversion to HX trans

If you're thinking about an automatic trans, the answer is NOPE!
The HX used a CVT trans.

I doubt the manuals are a direct swap either, they have different part numbers and whatnot, like different gear ratios.

Thanks for the reply. I did not specify there at all. It is in fact a manual 5 speed. If the ratios are different that is what I would be after. I just need to know if it will be compatible or not.

Re: 04 Civic dx conversion to HX trans

You might check a local recycle yard (junkyard), use their Hollander interchange guide to see if they can be swapped.

I think the manual trans would bolt in without a problem, but the ratios will be a little different. Probably not a big obstacle, just different.

I talked to a guy and he said he is a 100% it will bolt up but cant say for sure about the axles(which isnt a huge deal) and what I am more worried about the shift linkage/cables.
