S....switch? You mean you DON'T wire them directly to the ignition?

Re: Fog Lights

Nah, you wire them right to the battery. That way there's no flimsy switch to fall apart, go bad, or melt and catch fire.

I would hope the lights would come with some instructions. Search the forum, especially the DIY section and search youtube.

Re: Fog Lights

the ebay switches are a mimic to oem so instructions should be the same.
suggesting wiring it directly to the battery is really stupid , no offense ezone, it should be wired ignition hot.
BTW, the fogs look really cool on ES1s, look even better with HIDs so you can run them during the day and glare the MFs

You couldn't smell the sarcasm?

it should be wired ignition hot.
Never tap power directly from an ignition feed for a high load item such as foglights.

They really should be wired using a relay to the battery as the main power source, and then use whatever other low-amp trigger you want to operate that relay to run the lights.
You could use the ignition feed to trigger the relay, for example.

Re: Fog Lights

LOL..

The Fleabay Foglight kit for a 04/05 Ex I installed came with a decent lights, wiring harness, weather pack style connectors c/w relay, interior wiring, switch and even a fuse but no instructions ??? .

Installation required removing the front bumper cover to remove the fog light cutouts, install the lights in the lower bumper cover and properly route & secure the supplied wiring harness.

There are a number of instructional tutorials on this forum as well as videos on Youtube that you can use for reference to determine if you are up to the task. It took longer to locate a proper switched ignition power source for the interior low current control switch than it did to complete the light installation and bumper cover re-re.

Re: Fog Lights

Anyone that has installed fogs, how difficult is it to cut the bumper with a hack saw? Does it go quickly or is it a pain in the butt?

At work I use an air powered Sabre saw. Super fast for me.

A handy tool for cutting the holes in the plastic bumper cover is a hand held drywall saw. I'd suggest a finer tooth blade than what one would use for drywall though, but it's dang easy.

Home Depot/Lowes/hardware store?

Re: Fog Lights

On my 04 I only had to use a box cutter to gently cut the filler plate out, took less than 30 seconds/side and then carefully marked/drilled out pivot hole for each light that is cast into the light mounting side with molded dots.

On the 04/05 bumper, only remove the back part (flat) of the filler, do not just lop off the housing with a chainsaw or you will be buying a new bumper cover. The plastic was very thin and cut easily.
