Recently I have heard negative things about using Seafoam in newer cars, I used to use it in all my older ones. To me MMO seems the go to for the ring problem and I haven't heard any negative results at all of it for this purpose.

Re: 2001 EX manual oil consumption

So ive now ran two bottles of engine oil dye and scoured the engine in search of leaks. I can't be for certain but it barely looks like its the crank seal, and I mean BARELY. It sort of looks green under the uv light and if its leaking through the timing cover seal then maybe its the crank seal. I also noticed a miniscule leak from the trans side cam seal. Its so small and no pooling of it it cant be the main cause, at least I don't think. Since I need a timing belt i might as well do cam seals, crank seal along with it and see how it goes.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

If all your missing oil were leaking to the outside, you should have one hell of a mess.......and you don't have enough mess to explain all the loss from these external seepages. JMO.

Re: 2001 EX manual oil consumption

As an update on my end, I gave up. I tried a bottle of Rislone and it did nothing. Contacted HMotors Online and talked to Steve to order a D17A, shipped to my door only $1005, with warranty, 35-40k miles and all senors guranteed intact and working. Im just going to bulletproof it this winter with a new clutch, headgasket, arp studs, timing belt set, and a stage 1 Crower cam.
