'02 Civic - brake reservoir cap arrow point towards front bumper, or cabin?

Hello.

The dealer did a mini-inspection on my newly acquired 2002 Civic EX.
The "inspection" said I should replace the brake fluid.
I won't pay them $90 to do it though (thanks to youtube!).

When I looked at the cap of the brake fluid reservoir, there's an arrow on top.
Initially the arrow pointed towards the cabin.

Now when I put the cap back on, it seems to me that it fits better if I point the arrow towards the front bumper. But this is 180 degrees from the way the dealer had it.

Which way should it point?

Thank you,
david

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

EDIT: Arrow usually points forward.

EDIT2: In your owners manual, I don't think it specifically says anything about the arrow.
I looked at an 02 owners manual on page 222-223 and saw no mention of the arrow.

Personally, I don't think it matters as long as it sits on correctly and seals.

Just an FYI. When you change brake fluid you need to bleed all the old fluid out of the lines as well. Brake fluid is designed to absorb moisture and as it absorbs moisture the colour of the fluid gets darker and darker. If you don't bleed that fluid out of the steel brake lines eventually they will rust through from the inside out.

I'm not sure what you did but this youtube DIY is instruction on how not to change your brake fluid properly......youtube....you get what you pay for
