2005 Honda Civic Ex 1.7L Vtec Died

My 05 Honda Civic engine has been replaced. Our original engine over heated and we had to replace it. The new engine has been running good. We had the timing belt replaced last year. A few days ago we were driving about 35mph and heard three flopping sounds then noticed the engine light then the car died. the car would not start. It will turn over but doesn't sound like it's getting fire. What do you guy's think?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

What have you inspected?

What has been checked and tested thus far?

You got the plugs out.....Compression test?

I'd say to remove the oil cap, look inside, see the rocker arms.
Have someone crank it over while you look.
Do the visible rocker arms move at all?

Then inspect the timing belt.
Is it floppy loose?
Did it jump time?
