Rep Power: 0 Engine Shuts Off
I have an 02 EX with auto tranny. As I was driving home before, the engine just shuts off when I was on the highway. No indicator lights came on, just both the RPM & speedometer needles dropped to zero, then within seconds, all the indicator lights went on.
I pulled aside, put the gear in park, & turned the engine back on. The engine started immediately without any issue. All of the indicator lights were off, so I was ready to drive again, within seconds, the engine shuts off again. I started the engine again & the engine starts immediately without any issue.
No check engine light
This happened near the exit so I exited the highway. The car was fine, the engine ran normal, then about 2 minutes later, the engine shuts off again but this time it started by itself almost immediately. I didn't have to stop the car & turn it back on.
Now I just went straight home. Where I live is about 5-10 minutes away from the highway. The car was fine. The engine did not shuts off. I drove around my neighborhood to see if the engine shuts off again or not. After driving around for about 5 minutes, the car was fine, the engine did not shut off.
Within the last 6 months, I got a new battery & replaced all the spark plugs.
Any advice or input about this will be much appreciated.

I checked the battery terminal & they were tight.
As for the timing belt, I changed it few years ago, I think around 80K-90K miles. Right now the car have 171K miles

Re: Engine Shuts Off
grounds to the frame, ground straps from the engine to the frame etc etc
could also be an intermittent fuel pump issue

Thanks guys for all the input & advice.
I checked everything from the battery, ground, spark plugs, & cleaned up the throttle body. Everything was good.
Since I couldn't find anything wrong with the connections, I took it to a local shop that I always go to for some opinion. The mechanic also checked everything & he said he couldn't find anything wrong.
Well, after that night, everything works fine. I don't know what happened on that night. Hopefully it won't shut off again.
I probably going to replace the timing belt within the next few weeks.
