Rep Power: 0 Question on crankshaft oil seal
when i read the haynes repair manual, it said lubricate the seal with engine oil or grease. I want to know is it ok to use the regular engine oil (5w-20).
and if i use grease, what kinds of grease ?

The main thing is not dry. The idea is to lube it so it's not dry until oil gets to it. What is used is not the more important thing here. I use grease on seals just because it is heavier, but any lube is better than none.
Why are you working on it? A large leak is possibly the pump itself. There is a high pressure oring behind the seal too.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: Question on crankshaft oil seal
Factory seals often come already greased. If not, I prefer to lube with whatever fluid it will spend the rest of its life running in.
