Anyone ever install a eg6 shift boot into a em2?

well i am currently fitting a set of 05 civic hybrid power folding mirrors to my 05 civic lx spec and i seen that my shift boot had a tear and after much searching i see honda made a genuine leather with red stitching for the earlier models and with a little modifications and getting rid of that silver trim panel on the bezel i think it will work. you will have to add two tabs to hold the front and add two studs in the rear. i see that the piece has some molded piece that will need to be removed but this is all speculation as i do not have it in my hands. has anyone ever tried these modifications?..
