Wrapped Header?

Wondering if anyone on here has tried wrapping their stock downpipes or headers on a 7th gen, I love the look on a bike but never thought about trying it on a car?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Exhaust-Turb...86ccd4&vxp=mtr

Would love to see a picture of it installed

Re: Wrapped Header?

Lol header wrap just for looks! That's ricer mentality.

But seriously, the warp is used to keep heat away from sensitive areas on bikes, like your skin, and in cars it's to keep under hood temperatures down. If you don't have under hood temp problems, and I doubt you do, then don't bother.

The wrap it self can trap moisture to the header and cause corrosion problems later. Good way to ruin headers, unless absolutely necessary.

Re: Wrapped Header?

I would paint the headers in black BBQ paint and then wrap them. So that the moisture can't do anything

Re: Wrapped Header?

i would use header jackets there easy to install and don't trap moisture.

if your doing it just for looks don't bother yes it looks good on choppers but not in 7th gen engine bays it just looks ghetto.

Re: Wrapped Header?

Thanks for the input everyone. It was definitely only going to be aesthetic and with plans for powder coating the valve cover blue I thought blue heat tape might not look too bad. On the other hand I didn't know it trapped moisture so much and living in Minnesota we definitely get plenty of wet roads, especially in the winter.
