Fog lights are there but they aren't...WTF?

So it's been awhile since I posted up anything on the forums because I always used the search function and didn't want to be flamed.

This is just purely out of curiosity because I never really took the time to look at this situation. I have an 05 civic and I have the foglight switch that turns on whenever I have the low beams on, but I literally don't have the actual foglight housings or anything.

So I just wanted to know if I just need to get the actual housings to have fogs or should I replace the whole fog light system to give me a peace of mind to know that everything was there and I installed it myself?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Fog lights are there but they aren't...WTF?

The cars were not equipped from the factory with foglights. They were a dealer accessory add-on.

I'd guess someone replaced the front bumper and didn't cut and swap the fogs into the new one. (Or they were destroyed in the crash, so they were left off?)

You probably should see if the wiring is still in place for the lights first (and see if it all still works), and you might need to yank the bumper cover off to find them.

You know, I've seen so many hack wiring jobs on everything from houses to cars to computers/electronics I personally will never trust anything I know was done as somebody else's DIY job and prefer to redo it myself.

that's just me though I'm a wiring guy and have no issues doing it myself.

I've heard lots of funny stories here about the fogs. Especially on my 6th gen. It was sort of like something Honda never actually made themselves it seems.
