Re: 05 si burning oil

Stop using Mobil 1. Try Pennzoil Ultra or Valvoline Synthetic MaxLife. Also use a Purelator PureOne filter, they are boss.

On a side note, it is likely that it wasnt filled up enough. Some people disregard even the most basic OC procedures. Make sure the car is parked on a level surface for at least 10min- 1hr before checking it again. Personally, i check mine in the morning after sitting over night.

this is incorrect,

oil should always be checked when the engine (and oil) are warm (full operating temperature), turn the engine off and wait about 2-3 mins, then check your oil, this is when you get the most accurate reading, you dont want all the oil down in the pan,

Re: 05 si burning oil

It''s normal for cars to burn oil, just depends how much. You can go to a slightly heavier weight also.

Are you running 5W20? If so, try a 5W30, 10W30 or a 5W40.
