Very strange A/C problem 2002 EX

Hey guys,
new to civics, but have a very extensive car knowledge and cant seem to figure this one out.

Air conditioning is perfectly set to pressure, works awesome, super cold. Problem is after 15 minutes or so or when I'm on the highway it gets super cold then warm then cold again as if the A/C is cutting in and out, anyone have a solution to this problem? Haven't added any A/C oil or checked to see if there is that little inline filter that some A/C systems have.

possibly a bad evaporator temp sensor (near the gas pedal, poking into the air ducting). if it senses too cold, it will cut off the compressor. mainly to prevent freezing and the reason why the a/c will not run in low temps.

Re: Very strange A/C problem 2002 EX

this may sound silly, but its something that is commonly overlooked....check out your vent system, it could be a simple vaccuum leak causing your vents to turn from cold to warm....the problem may not have anything to do with your A/C system at all....

Re: Very strange A/C problem 2002 EX

yeah, you should provide some more info. when you turn the a/c on, do you hear the compressor click on and both cooling fans are turning? when you say that it starts blowing warm, does everything shut down like you pressed the button again? the hot/cold vent system is driven by trap doors and solenoid motors under the dash, in addition to a heater control valve that opens or closes to let engine coolant into the heater core. if the interior vent system is functioning, you could have a sticking heater control valve in the engine bay (tends to corrode after a while) that is letting coolant into the dash mounted heater core and essentially cancel out any cold air you would get from the a/c system.
