Rep Power: 0 Looking to buy 01 Civic, need advice.
Hi,
So after moving to the Detroit area for med school, I found out I was not going to be able to bring my Acura here.. so I need something to last the 4+ years I'm here.
I found a 01 Civic LX manual trans with 138K miles on it. Im going to go drive it and take a look, but from the picture it seems to be in good condition. I talked with the salesman on the phone and he said the timing belt was changed (according to car fax) at 68K which seems odd as it should go be changed roughly at 105K. I wonder if he meant the serpentine belt.. I'm gonna take a look at the condition of all the belts and what not. On my TL, the water pump got changed at 105K is that the same with the civic? I'll check the clutch for slipping. Is there any particular way to check for this other and dumping it and seeing what happens? ANYTHING else I should look for?
Oh and they're asking 5K for it. I'm gonna talk them down simply based on the lack of maintenance that should have been done at 100K.
thanks
ash
