2002 Civic - trip button not working

Hey guys, new member here. Just bought a 2002 Civic.

The maintenance light is on, and I understand you have to reset it using the trip button. Only problem is, the trip button isn't working. I can't cycle through trip a, trip b, and the odometer. It's not stuck either, I tried pressing it hard.

Any ideas? Or if you have an idea of how to reset the maintenance light without using the trip.

Thanks in advance.

Re: 2002 Civic - trip button not working

Welcome! I know with my trip button I have to press up slightly to get it to work. I don't know why, but it's been like that for 2 years. Try putting slight upward pressure on the button, then pressing it in. If that doesn't work then try down. Occasionally I have to mess with mine to get it to work.

Thanks for the info my maintenance light has been on for the past couple of days and I couldn't shut it off. The upward push pressure did the trick.

Re: 2002 Civic - trip button not working

I have a 2001 Honda Civic. My trip button doesn't work. I already pulled the #6 fuse under the hood, but it didn't work. While all of the car lights are off and all doors are closed, I pushed down and up on the trip button. I still can't get trip a or b.

Are you any good with a soldering iron? The trip button didn't work on my cluster a long time ago, I ended up de-soldering and removing the button then soldering a new one onto the board.
