Rep Power: 0 In the market for a new catalytic converter, need opionions
So Im looking for a new cat converter and Ive narrowed it down to 2 converters, both from eBay. Which one do you think is better? Thanks!
This is the one Im leaning towards http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2001-2002-HON...ht_2422wt_1270
Or this one? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Magnaflow-Uni...item2eb9765b6d
If anyone has any other suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated!

I have been told to not use cheap aftermarket cats on Honda's. Only OEM or a high quality aftermarket. Don't know how true this is, I have never replaced one on my Honda.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

You get what you pay for.
If you buy any cheapo cat and you have to pass an annual emissions test, I bet you will be an unhappy camper. Sooner, rather than later.
Your best bet is factory.
Next best is California CARB certified (or whatever their approval program is).
The rest are just giving your money away.
Figure out what killed the cat (if possible) and fix that, before replacing the cat.

OEM. Look around you can get one new for ~400-500. Well worth the peace of mind to do it once and do it right. Go cheap and it might not last, change the sound, mess with your mileage, etc.
Honda knows what they are doing, just buy OE.

I've got a Random Tech Cat and I still have my doubts that I'll pass the sniff check. Definitely not the visual, because it's not 50 state legal. OEM to pass, or any cat and swap for a CARB legal one like I do every two years.

On my old LX I replaced the cat/exhaust manifold with one from am auto parts. It worked great. I'd check their prices. They came in on one of the cheapest and also had a quality product.
