Legal Advice? Help Needed. Calling all Members.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: Legal Advice? Help Needed. Calling all Members.
I'll assume the axle IS the correct length here....
The second shop/person is the last one to touch the axle.
Seems to me that if they HAD replaced the snap ring BUT didn't seat it in all the way, this would happen just as easily as if they had not replaced a bad snap ring and DID get it seated fully.
So the WHY part can't be established, but the WHO is. Now I guess you have to prove negligence or malice. See your lawyer.
If the axle was NOT the proper length, this probably won't fly.

Since either shop could have installed it wrong it would be extremely hard to prove who was incompetent. Probably both, however you cant prover either. Save your money, dont bother with a lawyer. Be glad no "real" internal damage happened to the tranny like ezone said.
Find a SINGLE TRUSTWORTHY mechanic and use him for now on.
One mechanic means if something happens its easy to point the finger.
OR
Learn to do it yourself thats what forums are for.

I think he was at the mercy of strangers in a strange land when the second one happened.
And yes, find someone you trust and are comfortable with, and stick with them.
Or DIY, that's what shop manuals are for.

Usually the local independent Honda mechanics are the best. If there's not one in the area look for a legit tuner shop, this is child's play for them.

Broken car, low cash, Dads toolbox and driveway.
Pulled the engine out of the 63 Bug to replace a broken throwout fork.
Still wrenching now 30 years later, but I won't work in a driveway anymore.
Just stay away from guys like ezone and you should be ok.
Tried to link to the patch that says "F'n ray of sunshine ain't I" but the filter blocked it.
It's sewn on my vest.
LOL

Check this website. It's the Colorado Repair Act or something. Each states' acts vary so check and see if it protects your rights.

You should call the Nebraska DMV to see if they have laws that protect rights when you get your vehicle repaired or not? I think that should be a good start.
