Hello,
Just bought my 2002 Civic EX 2door coupe.
I don't have the key-less remote yet but my power door locks don't work at all.
The lock works with the key in the door or me pushing them up or down.
My power door lock switch will not work at all. Up or down.
If I press the switch I can hear a faint noise from the passenger door and that's it.
Both doors do not work.
Any ideas? I didn't see any prior posts on my exact issue. I will be fixing this by myself.
Thank you!

Yes. I only have 2 doors and BOTH of them do not work.
So, a bad switch...ok...I just didn't know if it was the actuators or the switch and I didn't want to start throwing money at parts I don't need.
Thanks!

I would troubleshoot further...If you are hearing a noise when working the lock switch then I think the switch may be ok.
When working properly your passenger door should also lock when you use the key or push down the lock **** on drivers side (drivers door closed)

Yes if you hit the switch and you hear the locks trying to do something then its more then likely your actuators. I had just recently changed 2 actuators on the rear doors of my car.

Now actuators...How much do those cost and how do I troubleshoot before I spend money on them?
Do you think both went out?

Well. Now since you have the switch on order try that and if that isn't it then you know its the actuators. Now price wise I got them for 14 bucks a peice but thats will my associate discount at the plant. Not really sure how much they would charge you for them.
And yes its possible that they both went out. Are the speakers still stock on the car? If not they could of went out because of who ever that put the door liner back on improperly.
Basicly how it was with my car 2 out of 4 doors locked and while locking the doors you may see the bad lock try to move up or down or just a sound coming from it. Its easiest to see if you pull the door liner off.

I'll try taking the door panels off and listening if the switch won't work. Or just buying one acuator first.
I think the speakers are stock...on that note I have a pair of 6.75 Polk Audio components from another car...I am getting mixed reviews from Crutchfield if they will fit or not...
I believe we have 6.5 in the front and 6x9 in the back...So do you think 6.75 will fit up front? I guess I could try when the door is off huh...lol
Thanks again for your help!

Need to check the fuse...but I hear a faint noise so with a bad fuse I would suspect I'd hear nothing.
I don't know how to check to see if the actuator works...
I am picking up the switch today...if it's not that then I guess a bad actuator. But I would need two, one for each door.
I just ordered a keyless remote on Ebay today.

Try working the lock/unlock button several times in a row (drivers door closed) and look for any slight movement in either sides lock ****. Also, I would think if voltage is reaching the actuators that they should make noise.
Could be bad actuators or broken wire(s)

What I meant was that when the drivers door is closed and you push down the lock **** (up top) locking the drivers door... that when working correctly it will also lock the passenger side. There is a status switch built into drivers side actuator.

Ok I tried sitting in the car with the doors closed and locking the driver's side lock up top and nothing happens on the passenger side...BUT I do hear a noise like it's trying to lock (sounds like an old power window trying to close) LOL...
I haven't opened the door lock switch yet from the dealer...should I just go buy the actuators and return the switch or...?

OK, I didn't get a chance to install it bc it rains every day here in South Florida! LOL...
I am going to try just buying the drivers side actuator first then see if it solves the problem...if not I'll get the other as well.
I think this is an easy install...looks like some people on here had problems removing the actuator from the rest of the locking unit...did you have any problems with yours?
I know in other past cars I've had those parts were rivited...I'm new to Hondas.

Update...it is not the switch. I tried it because it was a special order part from dealer and it said no returns. Switch is fine, fuse is fine....
I am ordering both actuators from advance auto today since everything is 20% off! Will keep the post updated if this finally works.

Just an update...It was the actuators that were bad in both doors in case anyone reads this and wants to know. I hate reading posts when the final result of the problem was never given. Thank guys!
