I have a 2001 LX coupe with a manual transmission I want to sell because too much stuff has been going wrong. I love the car but I can't deal with the issues caused by an accident. How much can I get for it?
-salvage title
-good paint except bumper is peeling a bit.
-No A/C
-150k miles
-Just did:
--New cat conv/exhaust manifold
--transmission flush
--rear struts 15k ago

I also want to buy a new 7th gen without as many problems because I really love my civic. The one I'm looking at is a 2003 ex coupe, manual, without spoiler or rims with 127,000. What would be an appropriate price to pay for this? Dealer is asking 7500. I can pay up to 6600, but is this a good price? Thanks!

My 03 ex coupe cost me $3500 ... i got a good price though because the bumper was cracked, the clutch is also slipping but i'm not sure if he realized that when he sold me the car. The ECU also died but that could happen to anyone.

I'll be paying about $1500 max to get this car back to perfect.

I mean dealership is always going to be safer (but more expensive) than buying private, but still ... $7500 isn't bad, Kelly Blue Book value for that car is $8690 from a dealer, but i'm sure you can get a better deal if you go private :P

I got my Civic for 5500$, with 64000 miles from a private seller, I had to do a bit of research and wait until I found one, but it paid off! Plus it was in awesome condition! Only a ding here or there

Look in your local classifieds for similiar quotes. I found mine in the newspaper. People who still post classifieds in the paper are usually older and take care of their stuff.

Nope. I paid 13K for a red w/leather '01 coupe with 22,000 miles, certified from the dealer in '06. Lost my job 2 months later, had it repoed a year later, bought the current '01 salvage for $2500 with 88,000 miles. I've put over 100,000 miles on it now.

Wow! I was about to fall for the $13k too but I decided to hold off and I found a private owner. He treated my baby very well, not one scratch and super clean interior too. Not a bad buy especially for my first car I'd say :

you can find a 04+ with 70k miles for around $7000 here.

I paid 9,995 for my 05 ex with 46k on it in 09 from a dealer. Bone stock, all of it's records right down to tires and oil, clean car fax, and only one minor scrape on the drivers side front fender which almost completely buffed out. I don't understand why all these 100k plus, 01-03 cars go for so much. I traded my 02 ex with 113k on it and only got 2k for it with clean title and minor paint issues on the passenger side rear quarter panel.

I just picked up my '02 LX Sedan a few months ago..135,xxx miles...paid $3995 from the 'local dealer'. I'd say you could probably get around $2500 for it. But, that would be on the higher end..

I got super lucky, I paid $4K for my 03 manual ex coupe, it already came with 17 enkei's, spoiler carbon fiber taillights and an exhuast, it only had 1000,960 miles when I bought it 3 weeks ago. The inside is super clean and the car was well taken care of. All I need to do is find some good angel eye projector lights and I'm set.

Paid $6500 for my '03 civic si (ex) with 127,000km (~78k miles) last year. Overall good condition except for a few door dings on the passenger side.

Sad to see it go but I can't stand all the hidden body issues (mostly hidden rust)

Trying to find an 04-05 with less than 100,000 miles for 8k. Pretty difficult :/
I test drove a stick 07 coupe -- it was okay but I seriously think I like 7th gens better. Didn't handle as nicely but I was jealous of no rust issues. Dealer told me "I can get it down..." so I romped the clutch and tranny for a half hour before he tried to get me to finance...no-way

Yeah 04-05's are harder to find imo. I don't know if less were made or what... but seems like every time I see a civic for sale, it's an 01-03. 04-05 are definitely the nicest though

I ended up buying another 01... this one in excellent condition. Seats someone put leather on, and the interior is very very good. Exterior had a couple of tiny dents but they're removing them before I pick up the car. 91,000 miles... ended up paying $7000. I would've liked an 04-05 but I can't afford 10,000 at this point (the minimum they go for in my 100 mile radius) and this 01 is in better condition than most 04-05 anyway. I will definitely find some 04-05 tail lights in a junkyard somewhere though...

i paid $3,000 cash for a 2004 VP clean title 90,000 miles mint condition it had all its maintenance records . i got it from a toyota dealer i was working for back in 2007.

I have 04 VP a crack on the side of front bumper and the dealer will give me $3500. It has around 90K mi now.

Yeah... I went from salvage title to clean title. It being salvaged had a ton of hidden problems. Went from LX to EX which isn't a huge deal, but it's nicer. And went from over 150,000 miles to under 100,000. Also my old one had a messed up 2nd gear synchro that would cost a ton to fix, and a clutch on its way out. Body issues from the salvage included: rust hidden everywhere, crappy welds on the front end, rusted out hood, 1ft X 2 ft bondo spot on driver door, bondo above the rear left tail light. The car also had no A/C which isn't needed but is nice to have and expensive to fix. I was tired of putting sweat and cash into that car from the previous owner neglecting it.

hey .. the dealer is trying to rip you off $7500 is to much & the car has over 100k miles.. maybe u should try going to auctions & you'll find something good. cause i bought a 2001 lx with 125k for $2800 clean title
