Rep Power: 166 Custom Car Grill
So, I was bored today and was on youtube browsing to see if i could find for my civic.. and i came across some videos from customcargrills.com .. then i went to that website, and they have different types of metals you can get.. diamond, large diamond, flat, circle, lines, etc types of patterns that you use for a grill. it basically sits over the ugly plastic part of your bumper, and looks pretty sweet. and it's easy to install aparently. i was realllllly thinkin about getting some.. and i emailed the site, and he said I can send him measurements and get a price for the kit or whatever. I was just wondering if anyone has used this? or done this? or ordered from this place? if you wanna check out the different patterns, click this little link..
http://www.customcargrills.com/products.asp?id=1
I just like this idea instead of rippin off ur bumper, screwing metal to the plastic, or glueing, or whatever.. this basically uses small little bolts with zip-ties to secure it into place.
Anyways, let me know what ya think..
here is the youtube video that i was talkin about with all of the products..
http://youtu.be/RK0xOCnqw8Y
click his channel name or whatever to see other stuff..
ok thanks

It looks cheap and the fact that you can see the zip ties bothers me..
I would prefer making a card board template, tracing that onto body kit mesh, cutting it out and holding it in place with a couple dabs of clear silicone. Still cheap looking, but better than that for a fraction of the price.

yeah i agree about the zip ties.. but there are these other things he uses too, they are like little metal clips, or clamps, and bc they are sliver, they blend in really well, depending on the pattern, and then the zip tie goes through that, instead of through the front..
i dunno, i know its cheapy, but i think it will look better than what i got goin on right now, which is nothin. and you can get silver edges instead of black too.. so it doesnt look all fake or whatever..
we'll see.. im still waiting to hear back from him again on how much it would cost for the cut out of my car bumper area. ill let ya know what happens

heres the video of those clip things..

at the end, the way he put em on looks horrid, so ignore that part. but i think those look better than black zip ties.. what do u think?

There's better grilles than those If you have a 04-05 sedan then the coupe grille looks great. And, ebay is littered with aftermarket grilles for 01-05. A lot of them look good, too. I'm not digging the metal mesh kind like you posted, but each to their own

i have an 01 ex sedan, and would really like something like this to fill that area in the front.. i just liked these bc i like the metal mesh look.. but i have tried searching ebay for these, and it only comes back with like the top grill part, where the honda logo is. what do i type in ebay to search for this lower part of the bumper grill? im not lookin to spend that much $ on it either, so thats another thing.. ill spend what i can on it, but im not payin a lot for it. anyways, thanks for any help

i like the ones for the top part too, where the honda H is, but is that a pain in the butt to take off? i definetly want one for the bottom part though. its just straight up ugly. and on my car, i have that silver piece that's on the hood part, so anything silver below i think would look alright. any tips on where to find a different grill for the bottom part is appreciated. thanks

(if this is for me) thanks! just tryin to spice it up a lil bit. I'm still so happy about my doors that i finished. did you see the pics i put up? they are in the interior thread thats labeled "change your doors with suede" i think.. (i didnt use suede, but o well.. lol)
anyways, now im on to the grill. its just so ugly unless u have a different bumper, or pretty fog lights, or somethin.. and im not doin any of that yet, so a grill is my next project..

no it definitely wont fit properly. and the conversion won't cost as much as you think for the front end if you go through a company called CERTIFIT i believe the hood and bumper are like 50-75 dollars each.
