They absolutely cannot be used on a 7th gen Civic.
With the release of 7th gens Honda transisitoned from a double wishbone style suspension to a macpherson strut, the designs are completely different.

What can I do for a quick (see: cheap) hock/strut replacement on my GF's car,
she beat the living **** out of it now it pops and shakes anytime you turn the
damned thing. Fronts are the issue, rears seem fine atm.

Order a set of kyb gr-2 struts off ebay, they're not that expensive and decent quality. If your looking for a really cheap solution try craigslist or a junk yard and buy some used struts, but they can only be from an 01-02 civic.
