Buying a '02 Civic

This is an '02 Civic Sedan with 110,000 miles. It is a 5 speed and my first Civic. Prior, I had a '97 automatic Accord.

I have plenty of money, just looking for a few HELPFUL people to give me some information.
  1. What is a good price for this? Inside and outside is in perfect condition.
  2. What are a list of mods for LOOKS that I should look into getting (please be specific) with links and prices if able.
  3. What are a list of mods for SPEED that I should look into getting (please be specific) with links and prices if able.

Any other comments? Also, I was looking to paint it all black when I add a kit to it. What would a good paint job professionally done cost, on average?

Re: Buying a '02 Civic

1. I'd expect to see that car going for 3000-4000$ Canadian around here in the condition you specified.

2. Generally people will start with lowering their cars, adding lip kits and skirts, blacking out headlights, tinting windows, buying new rims, changing the exhaust, adding fog lights, grille swaping, adding or removing spoilers, and a few other exterior things to start with. It's not too ricey and it adds a personal touch. There are a ton of options for our Civic's so don't worry about lack of availability.

Have a look at this thread for 2001-2003 Civics owned by members here:

https://www.civicforums.com/forums/4...your-ride.html

And 2004-2005 here (though there are a few differences between 2001-2003 and 2004-2005 like head and tail lights and bumper styles)

https://www.civicforums.com/forums/4...your-ride.html

3. Bolt on parts (CAI, SRI, cat back exhausts etc) won't yield any power gains for our cars but do sound much nicer. If you're looking to gain performance then you need to either turbo or swap engines. Both options are very expensive. However you can do a VTEC head swap if you don't have a D17A2 engine. It's a good DIY and not too expensive.

Many members here will encourage you do upgrade suspension rather than engine components.

Thank you for your reply. Anyone else?
Also, why do people not like "ricers"? What exactly is your definition of ricers, could you show me and point out things? etc?

For some of the most common questions, refer to my sig links - remember that most of them are for reference, not for questions.

Also, check here for most common issues for 7th gen - comical format, but so much true

Re: Buying a '02 Civic

see post #4 again - i edited it
also, lots of other ideas around the site - browse them.

PS: forget cheap projectors headlights. Look for retrofit mini headlights.

Re: Buying a '02 Civic

I did. I'm still looking for links to actual mods. Like for LEDs, a new grill, sideskirts, etc. Also for headlights (blacked out) and fog lights.

Like, good sites to buy my parts at. Also, a good place to find custom guages, etc for the speed/rpms, etc?

Re: Buying a '02 Civic

start from dezod, one of our vendors listed in the top menu
https://www.civicforums.com/forums/vendor_directory.php

procivic too? got my headlights from them, Amzo, but the light output is pityful, as is to any aftermarket projector without retrofit. There was a thread on how to DIY blacked out headlight, oven and all.

For speed, well, best is to go to suspension than engine - power is nothing without control Or get a Si/RSX instead to save for the engine swap.
I just did a humonguous search over all the web the last 3 days, so not feeling like posting links for free, the ones that are free are in my sig, sorry - all info is available to who browses .

LED's

http://www.ledautomotive.com/product.php?id_product=79

Retrofitting (not plug and play xenons)

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/index.php

You can find a lot of little cosmetic things on Ebay like lips, gear shifters, grilles, etc

For more important things that you need in good quality like suspension parts, speedo's and engine parts you can check your local kijiji and craigslist for used parts. Otherwise new parts are expensive
