warped hood help!!

sup yall first post here. been using this site for reference for a while just never joined. anyways, i'm thinking of buyin this car for a pretty decent price. problem is, there's a gap between the hood and fender, see attachment pic. the seller told me it was in a minor accident. is this fixable or do i need a new hood? thing is, this would be a nice beater for the winter, and the price is right. any help is appreciated.

Re: warped hood help!!

Generally, gaps mean accident

You can always tell that a car has been in an accident just by checking for gaps

I don't think just by switching out the hood will do you any good, might be some framework damage, I would open up the hood and check for welding points

Other than that, body looks like its in decent condition, I wouldnt know about the internals though, I would definitely have it checked out by a mechanic first

Re: warped hood help!!

Take it to a bodyshop and ask get them to check it out. If the guy is legit he wont mind letting you take it. If he doesnt let you go its probably more serious than he lets on. The reason I say body shop is not only do they know the mechanical aspect of cars, they also know frame/bodywork, and should be able to let you know whats wrong with it.

agreed. mine was a salvage title and there was a gap in my hood. One day this guy backed into me and i got to get it fixed for free and it turned out the reason my hood had a gap was because the hinges were not aligned properly. that aspect of the repair was super super cheap too
