Front and rear speakers

I need to get speakers for my o2 civic coupe ex. I have been thinking about alpine type s. Is that a good choice? I will run an amp for at least the rears. I will be using a pioneer mvh-p8200 heat unit.

Re: Front and rear speakers

Its not a bad choice. Depends on how much your willing to spend. The type s's aren't a bad speaker. But i would run an amp to all your component speakers in the car and then another amp for your bass. The best i have heard so far are the infinity component speakers or diamond audio for in car.

Re: Front and rear speakers

i always wonder why people always go for alpine i think its because there the most expensive components they sell at best buy. i would recommend Boston acoustic , Diamond audio, Focal.

Re: Front and rear speakers

Run your fronts on the amp, and your rears off the headunit's internal amplifier if you only have a 2-channel. Front stage is more important than rear fill.

Re: Front and rear speakers

I love my Memphis Audio speaks. They sound great, and they are %100 made in the USA. Almost all other brands are made in China!

Re: Front and rear speakers

I have the Alpine Type-S in my rear deck. They sound great and I am not running an amp. Go with the Alpines

Re: Front and rear speakers

My opinion is that I dont really like alpines at all
They are expensive, not very durable, and sound quality is only decent

I personally have Polk DB651's which are marine grade, so they are dust and water resistant, sounds GREAT, and best of all, only 50 dollars for a set

My suggestion?
Go to a local car audio/electronic store and TEST the quality of the speakers you want
Each has a different response, like more bass, more high/mids, or clearer quality.
Most stores will allow you to bring your own CD track to test, or plug in your MP3 to try out the speakers

I had a choice between brand new infinity speakers for 30 dollars, and brand new polks for $50, i chose polk because i tested them both and polk sounds 10x better

Do your research and compare before you buy
