D16z6 tranny on a D17a2 engine?

Will it work? been looking for a new tranny for ages, and cheapest d17 tranny i can find is like 600. Found a d16z6 tranny, but will it fit right?

just get the d17 trans. why would you want a d16 trans instead anyway?

You are going to have problems with the shifter. I believe the d16 transmissions are not cable shifted like the d17 transmission is.

Re: D16z6 tranny on a D17a2 engine?

nope wont fit. D17 engines are bastard childs of the D series. they dont match up to anyting else in the D series.

and yes the shifters are diffrent. the D17 uses a K series-like cable shifter system while the other D's use a shaft linkage.

Re: D16z6 tranny on a D17a2 engine?

Someone mated a d17 block to a d16 transmission. Why couldn't you do the reverse?
