Re: Car shut off..

With the timing belt removed all you need to do is take off the intake and exhaust manifolds, and you can pretty well remove the head. Most of the work is already done.

Re: Car shut off..

Ok, so i just picked up the engine that civic01vtec had sittin in his garage for years, it has 11k on it and looks good. hopefully the old engine is out by tuesday because i work tomorrow, and the new one is in on weds.... now my question is, what should i replace on this engine that's been sitting for a while... of course the timing belt lol, oil and filter and spark pluds... anything else i should check out?

Re: Car shut off..

Hmm... not much really. I don't even know if I'd touch the timing belt if it has 11k on it. The clutch maybe? if it's 5 spd. I'd take the timing cover off and inspect the belt for sure though.

Re: Car shut off..

I did take the cover off and belt is fine, everything in there looks new. hardest thing about doing the belt is getting the fkn crank pulley of. i just want to make sure im good for another 65k. as for the clutch ill be putting the one thats currently on my engine, and yes it is a 5sp, if both look shot then ill get a nice 6 puck. ... oo yea and since the engine wont be on the way ill be installing my progress front sway bar, and removing the girdle and arms to get new bushings in them since the ones on there froze to the bolts and are impossible to get out
