Exhaust for 2001 Honda Civic LX

Hello
The other day i was talking to a mechanic stating how slow and sluggish my 2001 Honda Civic LX sedan is. He mentioned to me that he can put a 2 inch performance exhaust system on my car for only $300. He said that it would make a dramatic difference in my acceleration. Is he correct and if so is $300 a good deal for the exhaust and installation?

Thanks

well nothere won't be much if any gains from upgrading your exhaust but it will sound better and give you the placebo effect . and 300 for what exactly what brand¦ is it cat back header back is it a bolt on or is it custom made ??? im assuming its a no name cat back which is on the verge off being a decent deal but we need more info to give you a better answer.

Re: Exhaust for 2001 Honda Civic LX

what do you mean engine to the rear? is he going to replace the header? (the 4 tubes that come out of your engine) and is he going to replace the downpipe and catalytic converter?

im guessing if its custom made, hes just going to make you a cat back exhaust, since that can easily be custom made in a shop. they cant really custom make you a header or downpipe/cat converter.

anyway it will look and sound better yes, but unfortunately our engine does not get much from basic bolt on mods like that. just the custom catback itself might give you another 3-4 hp. most of the power gains we all get from this car is in our head.

Yeah sorry its a custom cat back system. Okay well i doubt i will be able to notice the 3-4 hp gain from the exhaust. So its probably not a good deal then?
