Re: got a ticket

well yeah, cause it has alot more glare above the cutoff line. technically modding a car headlamp that came from the factory with halogens is illegal. even retrofit, altho it will be much safer and look just like a real oem hid car if done properly. but yeah so many people have those kits now and the ban didnt deter anyone. if anything kits are so cheap (<$100) that they are getting put on more and more cars.

well what he says is true... at least our cars are low - i hate raised trucks with HID. Heres my neighboor and imagine where the light would shine at a lowered car.

RallyeRedRider has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Re: got a ticket

^^
They are illegal in some states. Just like lowering your vehicle is illegal in some states. But just as the "tuner" crown finds ways to get around no cats, lowering, HID's, CAI, etc, the 4x4 crowd finds their own ways around things.
I get bigger adrenaline rushes going 1.3 mph, through crazy sections of trail, on insane angles, 1 wheel in the air, almost tipping, then I do hitting up some fast sweepers or sharp hairpins.

Re: got a ticket

cops around here are more biased against lowered cars than lifted cars - even though they tend to drive much more aggressively

Re: got a ticket

**** happens stay with 6000-8000 most cops don't know. Atleast out here in phoenix their not being dicks about it. I don't see many people getting ****ed with for them. Lots of people run them in a halogen housing.

Re: got a ticket

yeah. I'm running 10000k I think or 8000k and its eh so so. Not as bright as I thought. More blinding people I think. but haven't decided on what to do. Either get different bulbs or just go back to stock and just run hid fogs. All in all, it always comes back to, you get what you pay for i guess...

Re: got a ticket

well technically, 8000k is brighter. and 4300k is brightest. as you go up the kelvin color temp scale, brightness goes down. oem 4100k hids are 3400 lumen, philips ultinon 6000k is only 2400 lumens.
