i assume he's talking about flywheel HP and then adding up the box HP claims, as someone else said....either way, he's probably no where near where he thinks he is HP- or cost-wise. and how did he jump from having spent 600 bucks to 3k? 600 I can see, intake, header, "power chip" (lolz), but 3 grand? on a non-vtec motor that looks stock from the exterior and no supporting mods for internals?? i just don't see it...

I very seriously doubt that you got an AEM EMS for 600, but if you did, whoever sold it is a moron. Custom tuned? Is there a non-custom way to tune an engine computer? I live in Rockville, I'd love to see this setup...
Even so, for those mods, 170 is a WAAAAYYY over estimation. Try 125 MAYBE if your ignition timing is decent. And you may want to consider putting your cam back at TDC, you're losing power at +1 degree.

I don't know of any other way to tune an EMS other than "custom" and imagine you have or at least plan to do some headwork to work with that cam gear?
Like andy said though, don't get your panties in a wad cause of people on the internet. You're the one that came in here talking crap and made yourself sound like an idiot. None of us know you and your first impression was less than impressive.

Some widebands allow you to calibrate them to get a more accurate reading. I know the PLXs auto-calibrate (I don't know how) as it's one of their advertising bullets on their site. Maybe the UEGO needs to calibrated to accurately report the AFRs.
My guess is "custom tuned" means "I'm not just running a basemap". Or it just sounded cooler. Meh. Don't know, don't care. Point is that he's N/A, and claimed 170hp off exhaust, cam gear and tuning. Sorry man, doesn't add up.

he even admitted he was just guessing on hp numbers. so i think he just added up the numbers on the box. i'd like to see a true dyno sheet from someone with a setup like this just to prove it can/cant be done.

the record here for n/a setup so far is 140whp on a manual em2 with i/h/e, cam, pnp head with valve job, cam gear, vafcII, and a few goodies tuned on the dyno. i highly doubt your mods got you anywhere near that. and with no dyno, nobody will believe you. i dont even know why you have an EMS, donate it to one of the turbo guys who actually needs one. a vafc doesnt even get maxed out running n/a. and your basic boltons and exhaust mods im making an educated guess is giving you around 115-120whp if you're lucky. just because the intake box you got says it gives you 20hp, doesnt mean it actually does. my old typhoon intake added 2whp on the dyno. and i doubt there is much of a difference between brands anyway. importtuner dynoed a header on our cars and gained 2whp, and i think 4whp for exhaust system.
okay this is crazy. do you even know what a faster car feels like? go test drive a civic SI (03-05) with stock 140whp and see if you car feels faster. i doubt it.

Gearbox, I recall a thread from djmota I think he had claimed like 150-ish with aem ems and a stage 2 cam. I didn't see a dyno but there is a thread floating around about it...

this thread has been so much fun to read. this is the most exciting trash talking discussion i've read in a while. the d17 is a little harder to work with for the money, but its possible. Ive seen many of people do build ups to their d17s on n these boards. its all about what u spend ur money on.

This dude must know better than to come back and post a response.
Props to him..
The mods that he did wouldn't do anything to a well recieved engine, let alone our D17s. haha

i have spend more than 3,000 dollars on internal arrangements to the engine and didn't earn almost (nothing) Horsepower, sorry for those d17's runners but I have never seen a crappppppppier engine in my life, I am depressed with my car as soon as i finish with payment I'll sell it or burn it.
It is not worth even spend 5 dollars in gasoline to burn
It is not worth even spend 5 dollars in gasoline to burn
I am "boricua" too
I spend a lot too and no power... even an echo beat me with just some "tricks"
intake, header, complete exhaust system, aem adjustable cam gear, greddy e-manage...
just solve the problem with a 60-shot
some like XRS N/A, RSX N/A was "pidiendo cacao"...
but after some runs (about 10 runs) the clutch says no more...
Now I will come back with a new 6-puck clutch disk, new pressure plate, new 11lb flywheel and a phantom grip.
