50% Oil Life, Dont know the meaning

Hello
My car 2006 Civic Sedan Automatic 1.8 is showing on the meter, 50% Oil life. I have changed the whole engine oil and the filter but it is still showing. Before now it was showing 70%.
Please what can be the meaning of that.
Thanks

Re: 50% Oil Life, Dont know the meaning

yep, car uses sensory input to estimate oil life and decreases the oil life meter accordingly. There's no fancy chemistry analysis sensor assembly to determine oil life. Without resetting the oil life meter after the change, it's just gonna keep going down.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: 50% Oil Life, Dont know the meaning

Key ON (don't start the engine)
Push reset until the oil life display appears
Push and hold the RESET button until the display flashes (about 10 seconds)
Let go of the RESET button and immediately push and hold it again for about 10 seconds
display should then say 100%

This procedure can always be found in your owners manual

Thanks it worked, I started the car while doing it before and it didn't work until I see your message.
